Voyage to the East
Dedicated to Sun Wukong and his three companions, Tang Sanzang, Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing. In memory of their epic adventures as they journeyed to the west.
This selection, part of a much larger body of work, was mostly shot in the north west, Shaanxi and in and around Xi’an, the ancient capital of China during the winter of 1992-93. It concludes with a shot of the now iconic radio and television tower under construction in the Pudong district of Shanghai.
